What can’t I put in storage?

There are a few rules and restrictions for what can’t go into storage: flammable items, pressurized items, perishable items, and anything alive (including plants). Firearms are also prohibited, so you may want to contact a local FFL and see if they rent out safe space for your extra guns. Basically, if it can damage a moving truck (or it requires special permits or licenses to own), you’ll have to keep it with you.

When should I book my secure storage?

It’s a good idea to book your storage as soon as possible, ideally 2 – 3 months in advance. It may seem like a big window, but this will give you plenty of time to downsize in the meantime. Plus, if you’re doing your own packing, the extra time means much less stress on your end (although paying for professional packing is WAY less stressful).
